Why You Need to Vote in the Upcoming US Elections

In case you were unaware, there is an election coming up in the United States in November. This is what is known as a mid-term election as it comes in the middle of the Presidential term. This particular election will involve all 435 members of the House of Representatives as well as 33 of the 100 Senators. Some states will have Senate races occurring this year while others will note.

Every two years we as Americans get a chance to have our voices heard via our vote for members of Congress like this. In many parts of the country, the races are all but decided ahead of time. This is because the lack of competition between the two major parties is so minimal. However, there are at least some races that are likely to be highly competitive. The outcome of those races could literally determine the balance of power in Congress at the moment.

The experts currently see a greater likelihood than not that Democrats retake control of the House of Representatives after having lost control of it to Republicans all the way back in 2010. At the same time, the common wisdom right now is that Republicans will likely narrowly hold on to power in the Senate as a result of the fact that the races up for grabs in this year appear more favorable towards Republicans.

None of this is set in stone. The outcome of these elections entirely rests on the shoulders of voters like yourself. Every American gets the chance to have his or her voice heard with the vote that they cast. Even if experts feel that races are going to go a certain way, there is nothing to say that this could not change if the voters decide that they would like to take things in another direction.

A lot of people are paying extra close attention to this election because they know that if Democrats do in fact take control of the House of Representatives, then they may decide to exercise the option to impeach President Trump. Democratic leaders are currently saying that this is off the table, but news events could make it more appealing to them in the future.

It is important that every person who is eligible to vote does so in order to make sure that every voice is heard from and represented in the final results when Election Day rolls around.
